COMPANY PROFILE
 Indian Oil Company Ltd. was established as an oil marketing
entity on 30th June 1959, and was renamed Indian Oil Corporation
Ltd. on 1st September 1964 following the merger of the refining
entity, Indian Refineries Ltd. Indian oil corporation Ltd is India’s
largest commercial enterprise, with a sales turnover of Rs. 2,
85,337 crore and a net profit of rupees 2,950 crore for the year
2008-09. Indian Oil is also the highest ranked Indian company in
the prestigious Fortune Global 500 listing (116th position in 2008).

Indian Oil Products

 Indian Oil's product range covers petrol, diesel, LPG, auto LPG,
aviation turbine fuel, lubricants, naphtha, bitumen, paraffin,
kerosene etc. Xtra Premium petrol, Xtra Mile diesel, Servo
lubricants, Indane LPG, Autogas LPG, Indian Oil Aviation are
some of its prominent brands.

 Recently Indian Oil has also introduced a new business line of


supplying LNG (liquefied natural gas) by cryogenic
transportation. This is called "LNG at Doorstep". LNG
headquarters are located at the Scope Complex, Lodhi Road,
Delhi.
MANUAL SYSTEM
 It was a Window Based System in which record
entering of all the employees was done manually.
 It was a very lengthy process as it demanded
shifting of records on transfer and manipulation
on promotion. The processing and evaluation of
all the employees’ records manually was difficult,
time consuming, tedious and laborious work.
BENEFITS OF AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM
 The main benefits of an automated system in an HR department are as follows:

 The Login System: The user gets into the system using username and a unique password. Each user has its own
accessibility permission to his/her task flawlessly.

 Entry System: The records of the employees whether they be of login details of the authorized
users to the system, master employee record which contain all information about total promotions & transfers given.
Specific and Detailed information about promotions and transfers
are also entered.

 Edit System: The records of all the types whether they are of master records, promotion details
and transfer details can be edited by just giving employee’s ID number which is unique for each
employee.

 Search System: If we need to search any employee on the basis of employee ID or employee
name, we can use the search engine to do so.

 Report Generation: All types of reports are generated by the query form which contains the
option for generating Master Employee Report, Promotion Report, Transfer Report. The Master Employee Report contains
the abstract information of all the promotions and transfers given to employee during his/her whole service period.
Promotion Details Report and Transfer Details Report contains the details of all the promotions and transfers given to the
employee in his whole service period among the refineries or in same refinery’s different field.
DATABASE AND DBMS
 DATABASE - A database is a system intended to organize,
store, and retrieve large amounts of data easily. It consists
of an organized collection of data for one or more uses,
typically in digital form.

 DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS - Digital


databases are managed using database management systems
, which store database contents, allowing data creation and
maintenance, and search and other access. A database
management system (DBMS) consists of software that
operates databases, providing storage, access, security,
backup and other facilities.
SYSTEM DESIGN
 1. Logical Design - Logical modeling deals with gathering
business requirements and converting those requirements
into a model.
 2. Physical Design - Physical modeling involves the actual
design of a database according to the requirements that were
established during logical modeling.
 3. Program Structure - During high level design, different
modules and the control relationships among them are
identified and interfaces among these modules are defined.
The outcome of high level design is called “Program
Structure” or “Software Architecture”.
CLIENT-SERVER MODEL

client/server applications, the client part of the
program is often called the front end and the
server part is called the back end.

 Front end ASP.NET - ASP.NET is a


web application framework developed and
marketed by Microsoft to allow programmers to
build dynamic web sites, web applications and
web services.

LAUNCH OF E-SUVIDHA
 In 2008 the facility of ‘e- suvidha’ was launched; employees can
make use of it through intranet and can interact online in all
branches of IOCL.

 Intranet based form flow applications (e-Suvidha) has been


developed and implemented for various utilities /services
related to HR and Finance since April’08, for the benefit of
internal customer satisfaction through work-flow based on-line
systems for processing Leave, LFA claims, tracking of transfers
and promotions, issue of Certificates, Children Education
Allowance, Hostel Subsidy, Spectacles claim, Entertainment
allowance, Electricity claims and Toll charges & telephone
claim reimbursement etc.
