Introduction

 There are lots of different ways that electronic devices can connect
to one another. They are Component cables, Electrical wires,
Ethernet cables and also wireless technologies.
 Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WiMAX are wireless technologies which allow
devices to inter-connect and communicate
with each other. .

• In 1994 – Ericsson came out with this wireless technology to link

mobile phones & accessories called Bluetooth. the first to
emerge, several devices like mobile phones, pdas, headsets,
keyboards, mice, medical equipment and even cars now come
with this feature.
• Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology
used to transfer data.
• It provides a range of up to 10m .
• The main disadvantage is it's short range.
• Interne cannot be accessed through Bluetooth.
• The development on WI-FI technology began in 1997 when the
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) introduced
the 802.11 technology that carried higher capacities of data
across the network

•Wireless Fidelity – popularly known as Wi-Fi, developed on
IEEE 802.11 standards, is widely used technology advancement
in wireless communication.

•As the name indicates, WI-FI provides wireless access to

applications and data across a radio network.

•It provides a range of up to 100m.

•The most prominent advantage which Wi-Fi has over Bluetooth is that
Wi-Fi operates at a much faster rate - of about 11mbps, whereas
Bluetooth only operates at a much slower rate of around 0.72Mbps.

• The rising issue of WIFI and Bluetooth is the range because the range
of Bluetooth is 10 meters and as compared to Bluetooth Wi-Fi offering
100 meters range for user to make it more beneficial for user.
Here comes a new technology that solved all of the problems
caused by other means of technologies.

•WiMAX-Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(802.16. )

•It unites the technologies of wireless and broadband to provides

high-speed internet access across long distances

• It provides a range of up to 30 miles or 50km from base station.

•In practical terms, WiMAX would operate similar to Wi-Fi but at
higher speeds, over greater distances and for a greater number of
users.
•WiMAX could potentially erase the suburban and rural blackout
areas that currently have no broadband Internet access because
phone and cable companies have not yet run the necessary wires to
those remote locations.
WiMAX Specifications
 RANGE-30 miles or 50km from base station
 SPEED- 70-75 Mbits/sec.
 FREQUENCY-2-11GHZ licensed
 10-66GHZ.unlicensed
 OPERATES-It operates at the MAC and PHY specifications.

WiMAX Features
Wide coverage
Mobility
Access
Connectivity
Interoperatibility
Versatility
Low cost
Conclusion
wimax is an efficient and useful development friendly technology. wimax technology is
considered to be the next generation technology because this technology is aimed at replacing
most of the existing wireless technologies.

Personal Opinion
Further development would entirely change our world of communications. There would be a
time when rich and poor share the same wireless connectivity and this is would be time of
WiMax.
