SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AT
UNIVERSITIES IN VIETNAM
INTRODUCTION

1. How to achieve sustainable development has


become an interesting topic.
2. Previous studies attempted to identify the
obstacles that explain why HEIs are not willing to
change.
3. There is a litle study on this field in Vietnam.
4. This paper attempted to identify the barriers to
develop sustainablity at Vietnamese Universities.
5. The findings suggest feasible solutions to improve
the quality of education system.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Sustainable development at higher educational
institutions
1 • Education for sustainable development is defined as “a process of
learning how to make decisions that consider the long-term future of
the economy, ecology and equity of all communities” (UNESCO,
2005)

Internal barriers to the implementation of sustainable

To identify key barriers to sustainable development and evaluate


measures to prioritize sustainable development of HEIs in
Vietnam

The policy makers need to increase academic autonomy to


redesign the existing curriculum and build sustainability
awareness

The school leaders should commit to engage operations,


teaching, research, and outreach activities
