Portfolio is a systematic and
organized collection of children's
outputs. Teachers must have a
compilation of learning evidence
for each child
.
A portfolio is an important tool for
monitoring the development of
their skills, capabilities, and
learning progress over time.
Teachers may choose to organize
portfolios to monitor growth of the
learners’ knowledge, skills, and
attitudes in a particular area or
domain
Portfolio may also be used
to display students’
progress or achievements
by showcasing the learners’
work.
An assessment portfolio may also
include not just students’ work but also
teacher’s assessment such as individual
checklists or anecdotal records, which
teachers may use as basis for
accomplishing learners’ progress
report.
WHY DO WE ASSESS IN
KINDERGARTEN?
All teachers use assessment to drive student
learning forward. It is a concrete way for
teachers to communicate to parents their
child’s strengths and areas for improvement.
HOW CAN GO INTO A
PUPIL’S
PORTFOLIO ?
The purpose of documentation is to capture evidence
of student learning while informing the teaching and
learning environment.

It provides a means through which to assess

where students are and where they need to be;

To plan out next steps and future goals.

Documentation Panels

These types of panels are made with the

intention of allowing students and parents to
interact with the documentation.
Work Samples and Portfolios
Learners portfolios work well as kindergarten
assessment tools because cognitively,
emotionally, and physically, kindergarten
children grow and change rapidly. Portfolios
show a progression of growth in a child’s
development during a period of time through a
collection of student work samples.
Developing a mindset of a winner requires a lot of
commitment and dedication. He stands firm in the midst
of obstacles and challenges. Fear of failure never bites up
his confidence. Rather he becomes more determined to
find out ways to come out with success.”
