PROTECTION
IT MEANS PROTECT CONSUMER FROM ALL
KIND OF CORRUPT PRACTICES WHICH ARE
PERFORMED BY BUSINESSMAN TO EXPLOIT
THE CUSTOMER.
BUSINESSMAN EXPLOIT THE CUSTOMER BY
THE FOLLOWING WAYS

1. Sales of expired date products.


2. Sales of duplicate product.
3. Less measurement of quantity.
IMPORTANCE OF CONSUMERS PROTECTION
FROM BUSINESSMEN’S POINT OF VIEW
1.Long term interest of business:
Every businessman want to stay in the
market for long time. To fulfill this
need they must protect the customer.
2.Businessman uses society’s
resources: Businessmen use the
resources of society. They earn
profit by supplying goods and
services to the members of
society so it must to protect the
customer
3.Government Intervention: If
businessmen want to avoid
intervention of government then they
should not involve in unfair trade
practices.
4.Consumers is the purpose of
Business: The basic purpose of
business is to create more and more
customers and retain them.
Businessmen can create more
customers only by satisfying the
customers and protecting the interest
of consumers.
NEED FOR CONSUMERS PROTECTION IN
DEVELOPING COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA
 In the developing countries like India
there is more requirement or need for
consumer protection because of The
following reasons:
1. Poverty and unemployment: In a
developing country most of the
customers are poor and unemployed.
These customers mostly exploit because
they want cheap product.
2. Illiterate consumers: In developing
countries like India most of the uneducated
and illiterate and cannot differentiate
between the pure and duplicate product.
This ignorance gives more chances of
frauds to the suppliers who tries to cheat
the illiterate consumer by supplying
substandard and low quality products at
higher prices.
3. Consumers are not organized. Another
reasons for more requirement of consumers
protection in India consumers have not
yet organized themselves to have powerful
consumer movement. Due to lack of
consumer organizations there is more need
for consumer protection in countries like
India.

Government of India has provided
various laws and Legislations to
protect the interest of consumer
and some of these regulations are:

2.The Contract Act 1982
3.The Sale of Goods Act 1930
4.The Essential Commodities Act
1955
5.The Agricultural Produce 1937
6.The Prevention of Food
Adulteration Act 1954
CONSUMER RIGHTS
1.Right to Safety: According to this
right the consumers have the right
to be protected against the
marketing of goods and services
which are dangerous to life and
property. This right is important for
Safe and secure life
2.Right to information: According to
this right the consumer has the
right to get information about the
Quality, quantity, purity, standard
and price of goods or services.
3.Right to choice: According to this right
every consumer has the right to choose
the goods or services of his or her likings.
Consumer should be free to choose the
most suitable product from his point of
view.
. 4.Right to heard and representation:
According to this right the consumer has
the right to represent himself.
5.Right to basic needs: According to this
right every citizen has the right to fulfill
the basic need. Without the fulfillment
need it is impossible for any human being
to live in a dignified manner.
CONSUMERS RESPONSIBILITIES
