HARDWARE COMPONENTS OF
COMPUTER
1. MONITOR
 The piece of computer
hardware that displays the
video and graphics
information generated by the
computer.
2. KEYBOARD
 used to input text,
characters, and other
commands into a
computer.
3. MOUSE
 Sometimes called a
pointer , is a hand
operated input device
used to manipulate
objects on a computer
screen.
 Primarily used to provide a
back up power source .
 Act as power “ conditioners”
by insuring that the electricity
flowing to your computer and
accessories is free from drops
and surges.

4. BATTERY BACKUP (UPS)

5. FLASH DRIVE
 A small, ultra-portable storage device.
 Connect to computers and other devices via a built-in USB Type- A
plug.
6. SPEAKER
 They receive the audio
input from the computer’s
sound card and produce
audio output in the form of
sound waves.
7. SYSTEM UNIT
• The case that contains all of the main parts of a
computer
LET’S SELFIE
COMPONENTS OF SYSTEM UNIT
1. MOTHERBOARD
• The “backbone” of the
computer or more appropriately
as the “Mother” that holds all
the pieces together.
2. CPU

 Central Processing Unit is the

“heart” or “brain” of a computer
 responsible for interpreting and
executing most of the commands
from the computer.
3. RAM

 Random Access Memory

 the physical hardware inside a computer that
temporarily stores data, serving as the computer’s
“working” memory.
 Used to convert the power provided from the outlet into
usable power for the many parts inside the computer case.

4. POWER
SUPPLY
5. VIDEO CARD
 An expansion card that allows the computer to send graphical
information to a video display device such as a monitor, TV, or projector.

 Rectangular in shape with numerous

contacts on the bottom of the card and one
or more ports on the side for connection to
video display and other devices.
6. HARD DISK DRIVE
 The main, and usually largest, data
storage hardware device in a computer.

 A data storage device that uses

magnetic storage to store and retrieve
digital information using one or more
rigid rapidly rotating disks coated with
magnetic material.
7. OPTICAL DRIVE
 A piece of computer hardware
about the size of a thick soft
cover book.
 the front of the drive has a small
open/close button that ejects and
retracts the drive bay door. This
is how media like CD’s , DVD’s,
and BD’s inserted into and
removed from the device.
