Concept of Staffing

“Filling positions in the organization structure through
identifying workforce requirements, inventorying the
people available, recruitment, selection, placement,
promotion, appraisal, compensation and training of
needed people.”
- Staffing is the process of identifying, *assessing, placing
and developing individuals at work.

Objectives of Staffing
• To ensure the selection of right kind of people
• To achieve effective utilization of human resources
• To establish and maintain adequate organizational
structure
• To coordinate and integrate the individuals and groups
• To generate maximum development of individuals and
groups
• To recognize individual needs and group goals
• To maintain high morale and better human relations
Importance of Staffing
• It is a basic function which ensures recruitment of right
people at right time and place
• It utilizes efforts and potentials of individuals and groups
effectively.
• It organizes proper division of tasks
• It provides service to the entire organization
• It maintains cordial and amicable job relationship
• It ensures social justice with uniform application of rules
and regulations
Components of Staffing
• Staff Planning: determines hiring and staffing needs of an
organization.
• Recruitment and Selection: to ensure that the best people
are brought into the organization.
• Training and Development: ensures that employees have
the necessary skills required to perform their jobs.
• Performance Evaluation and Feedback: evaluates
performance of the employees and provides them
feedback.
• Pay and benefits: ensures that employees are adequately
compensated for their efforts and are provided with other
benefits
Characteristics of HRM
• It considers human resource as the most valuable asset.
• It covers all levels of personnel management.
• It is *inherent in an organization.
• It emphasizes on human capabilities such as; skills and
knowledge.
• It makes sure that employees use of their capabilities to
achieve corporate goals.
• It attempts to get cooperation of the people.
