 Introduction
➢ Poverty means a condition where there is lake of
necessaries of life. The preservation of the life of the body is a
necessity & the man doesn’t possess the means necessary to
such preservation is poor.
➢ Whether it be directly through starvation or indirectly
through sickness brought on buy insufficient nourishment
poverty must necessarily lead to the extinction of the physical
life.
➢ The individuals' love of life will not allow him to submit
this result with out resistance, & so in one way or another,
according circumstances in which he lives struggle against it.
➢ He will either beg the means of substance from his fellows or if this fails, he
will resort to fraud in his efforts to obtained.
➢ There is a great difference between poverty and all other human conditions ,
that the man who suffers from it has at his disposal no means of resistance out of
his own power, that here there is no service rendered which furnished a claim for
a counter service, as is the case in all other human relation.
 Poverty Cases in Maharastra

➢ Maharastra is among the richest state in India in terms of per capital income,
yet incidence of poverty in the state remains close to the national average, the state
economy grew at a faster rate that the all India average during 1980 – 1993, but it is
slow down a bit during 1993-2004 due to poorer performance of Agriculture &
industry. Despite development the rural poverty has reduced from 38% 1994 to
around 24% in 2000. A comparison of the state with India some demographic and
Psycho economy features across 3 time points.
 Poverty Cases in Odisha

➢ Around 40% of Odisha’s population living below poverty line the incident of
poverty is highest here followed by Jharkhand, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The
center of Science & Environment in it’s recent report painted a gloomy pictures
about likely impact of growth of mineral sector in the state staying that the current
model of development has no way benefited the state and its poor over the year even
as the state has received and average annual economy growth of 7.2% during the 10 th
5 Years plan. It has so poor performance in the human development .
