 ABSTRACT
The introduction and implementation of the computer so much improved the
information needs of organizations and great success recorded due to
enormous capabilities of the computer. In order to tap these capabilities of
computer and thus improve the information needs, organizations previously
operating manually are now going computerized. However, this project contains
a detailed analysis of the existing manual-based billing system of a specialist
hospital Lafia as a case study. Based on the analysis, problem areas were
identified and online billing system was designed and implemented using  PHP,
MYSQL as the database, to eliminate problems associated with manual method
of payment in the clinic.
 INTRODUCTION

Hospital is health care institution or a place where people who are sick injured and
wounded are given medical treatment, surgical care and cure, while billing is a
process of showing an invoice on how much one owes or has to pay for service
rendered. In summary hospital billing is amount of money to be paid or charges given
to a patient for treatment care, cure of illness and other services render by the doctor.
Hospitals are responsible for the supply of drugs to patients at specific drug rate, but
their billing has been manually processed. The aim of this project work is to design
and implement hospital billing system. Before now there have been numerous
problems faced by the hospital in operating the manual system of billing which is not
very efficient, a lot of paper work has been done, receipt, irrespective of the number of
patients take long period of time to prepare, due to the voluminous numbers of drugs
used. Records of patients serve as information for preparing management decision
are very difficult to locate manually, because of these problems errors arising from
such system become very noticeable.
The medical billing software is to hold information on patients bills in different
departments in the hospital. The development of the system is to ensure that the
number of patients being attended to on daily basis is known or track down and also
at same time accounting for bills of the patients. It helps the hospital to know with
ease how much they realize. This information can be used by a hospital to determine
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The major problem facing most of the medical organization is

handling of payment and effective monitoring of cash flow in the
hospital. Therefore the manual approach of billing customers is
associated with numerous errors and mistakes. It is difficult to get
accumulated bills from customers as tracking payments manually
is difficult. It is difficult to accurately compute medical bills incured
by the patients. Delay in getting reports that pertain to hospital
bills is not convenient due to long queue in the pay point.
 AIMS AND OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The primary aim for this study is to design and implement hospital
billing system that will ensure efficient record process in the
establishment such as:
i. To provide a user friendly system and robust user interface for
managing hospital billing.
ii. To design a system that will accurately compute total bill of
patients.
iii. To create a system that will be used to obtain reports of billing
records of patients.
iv. To implement a system that can be used to update billing
information of patients.
METHODOLOGY

The methodology used in carrying out this

research work is structured system analysis and
design. (SSADM) Whereby a case study of the
present existing system was carried out and the
recognition for the need of a better system was
proposed. After then, feasibility was carried out to
see to how the proposed system fits into
management priority and financial implications or
economic implications of the proposed system.
 
CONCLUSION

Web portals are essential aspects of the internet

that provide temporal link to vital information
resources. This project work has been able to
implement one for office management exercises.
The developers challenged various issues to
develop a system for responding some problems
that staffs and companies are facing today. The
main aim of this work is to develop a web-based
Hospital Billing system, which caters for various
types of users and is easy to use.
