What is empowerment?
- It is the process of becoming stronger and more
effective.

What is technology?
- It is the application of scientific knowledge for
practical purposes, especially in industry.
- It also refers to the machinery, tools and equipment
developed from the application of scientific knowledge.

Thus, empowerment technologies refers to the study of the effective use of modern-day
devices.
Information and Communication Technologies
o It deals with the use of different communication technologies to save,
send and edit information.
Is a study of computers as data processing tools.
It introduces students to the fundamental
of using computer systems in an internet
environment.
ICT in the Philippines
Several international companies dub the Philippines as the “ICT Hub of Asia”.

According to Measuring the Information Society by International Telecommunications Union,

Out of 100 Filipinos, there are about 106.8 cellphones used.
