 Patriotism means loyalty of person to his/her
own nation or the leaders of nation.
 Patriotism is an emotional attachment to a
nation which an individual recognizes as
their homeland.
 Patriotism is the quality of being patriotic or
vigorous support for one's country.
 A Patriot is a person who is on the side of his/her
own nation or its leaders.
 A Patriot is someone who feels a strong support for
their country.
 A Patriot is a person who vigorously supports their
country and is prepared to defend it against enemies
or detractors.
 A Patriot is a person who loves,supports
and defends his or her country and its
interests with devotion.
 Patriotism is different from nationalism.
Nationalist thinks that every ethnic
group should have its own nation, so
nations are to serve the people. In other
words in nationalism the nation is just a tool
to
have freedom for an ethnic group, while in
patriotism the nation itself is the highest value.
 Several surveys have tried to measure
patriotism for various reasons, such as
the Correlates of war project which found
some correlation between war
propensity and patriotism. The results
from different studies are time
dependent. For example, patriotism
in Germany before World war I ranked at
or near the top, whereas today it ranks
at or near the bottom of patriotism
surveys Since 1981, the World Values
Survey explores people's national values
and beliefs.
 The feeling of Patriotism is important for the
Freedom of a Country. A patriotic person will
always be ready to sacrifice his life for the
love for his country. A Patriot is immortal. Men
love their own country. They do many things
for the good of the country. This feeling for
their country is called patriotism. Patriotism is
one of the best virtues of men. It is a noble
feeling of the mind. It is said that mother and
motherland are superior to heaven.
 Patriotism is the great and selfless passion of
love for one’s country. To an Indian patriot his
mother and motherland are superior even to
heaven. An Indian Patriot is ever ready to lay
down his life in the service of his country,
India.Patriotism is not mere passive love for
the country. A true patriot, who loves India, is
an active worker. He works at heart and soul
for the progress of his India and
countrymen. He takes action for maintaining
the sovereignty and glory of his motherland.
 It is not only on the field of battle, in defending his
country, that a true patriot finds work for his
hands. The well-being of his fellow citizens, their
happiness, their material, and moral progress,
their spiritual salvation – these are dearer to him
than his own personal comforts and
advantages. At home, therefore, he labors day and
night to lighten the load of poverty of those
around him, to lessen their pain of weakness and
suffering.A patriot does not seek to make his
fellow citizens in every way like himself. He does
not quarrel with his neighbor over petty
differences. It is enough that the other is a fellow
citizen of his to entitle that other to his regard and
 Those who truly care about the republic we once enjoyed, those who
are seriously concerned about the erosion of our civil liberties, those
who express rejection of American foreign policy...are now often
referred to in the most hostile of terms. A resurgence in the irrational
and hypocritical "my country right or wrong" and the "love it or leave it"
mentality is experiencing newfound popularity. To me, this portends an
unrest among those who feel threatened by those who challenge their
agenda. It also indicates that the powers that be (primarily the major
US corporations who benefit from a war time economy and their paid-
for politicians at every level of government) have done an excellent job
of instilling fear into many of the American people. Their success is
illustrated by the percentage of Americans who, fearful of future
terrorist attacks upon American soil, are willing to so blindly allow their
fundamental liberties to be taken away all in the name of protecting the
"homeland." Further, the same, believe they are being patriotic in
maintaining a stance of support for their country.
 One belief which seems to persist throughout debates is
that of Patriotism, with patriots throwing round
accusations of people being unpatriotic.
Why this should be considered an insult i have no idea.
Horrible things have been done in the name of
Patriotism, and it is not take too far a step for a patriot to
become a racist.
What is there to be proud about the country you happened
to be born in?
The brilliant way in which we conquered other countries and
stripped them of their resources?
The way in which the democratic institutions which have
been fought for for around 800 years are still
fundamentally flawed?
The way in which the country is steadily declining and will
soon cease to be a major power unless it is propped up
by other countries such as USA?
 Patriotism is a great thing, just depends on
how you use it. Shouldn't you love the country
that you live in? You should be happy about
your country, and patriotism is all that really is.
Heck, look at my username. I am a definite
patriot. I love my country extremely. But, even
though some people may use extreme
patriotism to mock other countries or brag, it
just depends on the extent. Most patriots are
not rude, they just love where they live.
