SENSE OF PATRIOTISM AMONG

YOUTH IS IMPORTANT FOR NATION

BUILDING
DEFINITION

 • Patriotism is the love and respect for one’s country. It is not about
blindly following the beliefs and cultural values of the country. It
is to take pride in one’s origin and work for the prosperity of the
country. Patriotism is very important.
SENSE OF PATRIOTISM
AMONG YOUTH IS IMPORTANT
FOR NATION BUILDING
1.The feeling must especially be born in the
youth of the country so they act as responsible
citizens. Youth is the future of the nation and
for the bright future of the country it is important
for them to protect and preserve the nation and
act in its best interest to make it outshine.
 We should stop complaining about the flaws of our
government and instead work for the growth and
development of the country.
 It is better to be the change first to bring the change. It is
important to love the nation we live in and focus more on
what it has given to us and what we can give back to it.
 We need to be united and stand together for the progress of
the country for its improvement. • It is important to show
patriotism in our actions and be proud of the country we live
in. We all need to always stay united and devoted for the
betterment of our nation
 Beingpatriotic towards the nation is everyone’s
responsibility, for we as a society, as a group, form
the nation. There is no nation without people and
vice-versa. Youth forms a major part of the nation
and being patriotic towards it is their major
responsibility.
 While the youth today enjoy their freedom in
heritage, they must know the amount of sacrifices
the freedom fighters did without any second thought,
the activities that happened during the struggle for
freedom and the amount of bloodshed that took
place, so that we, as a country, can enjoy this
peaceful life. It’s very evident to notice that their
sacrifice, nowadays, seems to have a very little
value
 So to induce the feeling of patriotism, to make them
know the value, it’s something that has to take
place from the roots of their childhood. • The
teachers play a very significant role in molding the
childhood of the youth. If the teachers, from the
beginning itself, teach the value of freedom to the
students, the amount to sacrifice it took to live in
the free nation today, no youth will fail to value the
freedom of our country.
 CAT Citizen Army Training must be made
compulsory for every school. In CAT, you will learn
to lead a life of military discipline and fitness, which
in return, will give them the insight to the life of the
people serving military are leading . CAT with
inducing a feeling of patriotism to the students will
also make the students physically fit.
Patriotism vs. Nationalism

 What does Nationalism mean? From the

Philippines, its stronghold, nationalism is a devotion of
love for one’s country. Nationalism means to give
more importance to unity by way of a cultural
background, including language and heritage. It
implies to a person that his country is the most
superior among other countries and he will defend it
no matter what.
 SA SALITANG TAGALOG
 Angnasyonalismo ay nangangahulugang
pagbibigay ng higit na pagpapahalaga sa
pagkakaisa sa larangang pang-kultura, kabilang
ang wika at pamana. Ang patriotismo ay
tumutukoy sa pag-ibigsa bansa, na may
pagbibigay-diin sa mga pinahahalagahan (values)
at mga paniniwala.
 Nationalism, etymologically, means love,
care for, preservation and patronage of one’s
native land and everything in it—the country
of birth of a national, whether it be Filipino or
otherwise.
 To be a Filipino nationalist, therefore, the ethnological
ramifications of nationalism must all be present in one’s
being. This implies a heartfelt dedication for the love, care,
and preservation of the Philippines and everything that is
identified with it: the Philippine territory, the inhabitants,
Philippine sovereignty, its government, all things that
represent and symbolize the country; the aspirations, hopes,
dreams and needs of the Filipino people.
 What does Patriotism mean?
 xPatriotism is a devotion to one’s country for no other reason
than being a citizen of that country. It is a common virtue that
pertains to the love for a nation, with more emphasis on
values and beliefs. One who is patriotic will be ready to make
any sacrifice for his country. He will never live selfishly for
himself alone. A soldier for instance makes the supreme
sacrifice of his life for the sake of his country.
//

 Patriotism is taken from the Latin term pater, which

literally means “father”. Patriotism is the willingness and
determination to lay down one’s life for the fatherland—
the constant resolve to sacrifice one’s life and limb for
the preservation of the State. It is the total realization of
that love for the country, which is nationalism. In other
words, to be patriotic is to be nationalistic. Conversely,
one cannot be patriotic without being nationalistic.
You may call yourself a patriot if you consider
these:

1. Respect the flag and value Filipino identity.

2. Know your nation’s history and be able to share it to
others.
3. Be a productive citizen
4. Be aware of the issues in our country.
5. Stand proud for every Filipino achievement.
6. Patronize and support our own products .
. Respect everyone and value our traditions.
8. Speak out our own language and not hesitant to tell where
you really came from.
9.Remember and commemorate our heroes’ sacrifices for our
country.
10. Love our family, our neighbors, and our compatriots.
\
Remember!!

The state being defined as having four basic elements:

territory (the Philippine archipelago, its waters, subterranean
shelves, etc.), people (the Filipino people who are nationalistic
and patriotic), sovereignty (freedom from foreign dictates), and
government (a body politic composed of delegates who are
considered to be representatives of the people to stand and
fight for Filipino interests, dreams, aspirations, and hopes).
 Foras long as our political leaders blind us of these
things, for as long as the Filipino people refuse to
learn, for as long as we remain mediocre, for as long
we could not change our self inwardly, for as long as
we refuse to change, nationalism and patriotism will
only be words in the dictionary
