Nowadays the number of so called “remote workers”, people
who works at home, increases, because of common problems
that usual workers have to face with everyday, such as:
• bad traffic and high gas prices;
• stress;
• not the best hygiene quality at the workplace ;
• even threat of terrorism.
Reasons for the household production:
• can be done much more faster and easier by using
internet and computer;
• Reduction of the transaction costs;
• Few skills or special resources are required.
By working at home people can avoid such a common
problem as:
• Stress;

• Hygiene problem;

• loss of paper documents;

How has the evolution of personal computer hardware and
software reversed some of the trends?
During the Industrial Revolution, the rapidly developing industry and the
service sector provided a lot of new jobs. At the same time, the
appearance of cheap industrial goods led to the ruin of small producers
and the ruined artisans became wage workers.

So many of them could not work at home anymore. They had to go to

work at home. And development of personal computer hardware and
software has made this possible for people in our time.
Using of modern computer and internet technologies not only
helps telecommuters, but also saves a lot of money for big
corporations, because, for example, they can organize online
videoconference instead of spending money on travels.
Conclusion
The Industrial Revolution led to centralized production in large
urban facilities.

The personal computer revolution has reintroduced some

elements of the cottage industry into our economy.

However, the computer revolution has contributed to the trends

of a more efficient division of labor and lower transportation
costs.

computer development makes a new contribution to the history

of the informational revolution of our time.
