◦ In la Coruña (Galicia) is the
Torre de Hércules, the oldest
working lighthouse in the world
and also the only Roman
lighthouse that exists. It is
believed to have been built
during the second half of the 1st
or early 2nd century by the
Roman Empire, on the finis
terrae of the known world.
Madrid's royal palace
◦ The royal palace of Madrid is the
official residence of the spanish
royal family. At present it is used
exclusively for receptions,
ceremonies and official acts. Its
construction began in 1738 and
ended in 1755. Throughout its
50,000 square meters, we find
870 windows, 240 balconies and
44 stairs. All this makes it the
largest palace in Western Europe.
