STRUCTURE OF THE
BRAIN
MIDBRAIN
• The midbrain is located between the thalamus/hypothalamus of the
forebrain and pons of the hindbrain. The midbrain serves important
functions in motor movement, particularly movements of the eye,
and in auditory and visual processing.

THE LIMBIC SYSTEM AND THE
CEREBRUM
The limbic system is the part of the brain involved in our
behavioural and emotional responses, especially when it comes to
behaviours we need for survival: feeding, reproduction and
caring for our young, and fight or flight responses.

The cerebral cortex, the largest part of the brain, is the

ultimate control and information-processing center in the
brain. The cerebral cortex is responsible for many higher-
order brain functions such as sensation, perception,
memory, association, thought, and voluntary physical
action.
