Iliacus • Origin: Iliac fossa of hipbone
• Insertion: With Psoas into lesser
trochanter of femur
• Action: Flexes thigh on trunk, If thigh
is fixed, it flexes the trunk on thigh.
Psoas Major • Origin: Transverse processes and
bodies of five lumbar vertebrae
• Insertion: With iliacus into lesser
trochanter of femur
• Action: Flexes thigh on trunk, If thigh
is fixed, it flexes the trunk on thigh.
Pectineus • Origin: Superior ramus of pubis
• Insertion: Upper end of linea aspera
of shaft of femur
• Action: Flexes and adducts thigh at
hip joint.
then via Ligamentum
Patella into tubercle of tibia
• Blood Supply: Femoral Artery
(Continuation of External Iliac
Artery
• Nerve Supply: Femoral Nerve
(Largest branch of Lumbar Plexus)
