Chhattisgarh
Climate
• The climate temperature of Chhattisgarh is tropical.
• The monsoon season is from June to October and is a
welcome respite from the heat.
• The temperature varies between 30° to 45°C (86 and
113°F) in summer and between 0 and 25°C(32 and
77°F) during winter.
Culture
• The state hosts many religions sects such as Satnami Panth,
Kabirpanth, Ramnami Samaj and others.
• Champaran (Chhattsigarh) is a small town with religious
significance as the birthplace of Saint Vallabhacharya.
• The Oriya culture is prominent in the eastern parts of
Chhattisgarh bordering odisha.
Dance
Panthi
It is the folk dance of Satnami community, has religious overtones. Panthi is
performed on Maghi Purnima, the birth anniversary of Satnami Guru Ghashi Das.
Pandwani
It depicts the story of the Pandavas, the leading characters in the epic Mahabharata.
The artists in the Pandavani narration consist of a lead artist and some supporting
singers and musicians.
Rawat Nacha
Rawat Nacha, the folk dance of cowherds, is a traditional dance of Yaduvansh is
(clan of Yadu) as symbol of worship to Krishna from the 4th day of Diwali
(Goverdhan Puja) till the time of Dev Uthani Ekadashi.
Soowa Nacha
It is a symbolic form of dancing related to worship. Dancers keep a parrot in a
bamboo-pot and form a circle around it and then performers sing and dance.
Karma
Both men and women arrange themselves in two rows and follow the rhythmic
steps, directed by the singer group.
Traditional Food

The State of Chhattisgarh is known as the rice bowl of Central India.


Most of the traditional and tribal foods are made of rice and rice
flour, curd and a variety of green leaves like lal bhaji, chech bhaji,
kohda and bohar bhaji. Badi and Bijori. The tribal and village
population enjoys delicacy brew made of small, creamy white fruit
of a local tree called Mahuwa.
Religion
• There were 22.8 million people in Chhattisgarh as per the census 2011 of
which 98.30% were Hindu, 1% Muslims and 0.7% Christian.
• Chhattisgarh now has the highest Hindu percentage in the world by state.

Chitrakote Falls
• Chitrakote Falls is also referred as the Niagara Falls of India. It is located 38
km from Jagdalpur and is accessible by road only.
• Chitrakote Falls is listed amongst the most popular waterfalls in Chhattisgarh.

Tirathgarh Waterfalls
• Tirathgarh can be termed as "Milky Fall" because of the white colour of the water
as it descends down the rocky slope giving an impression as if milk is falling.

Festival

Bastar Dussehra
• Dussehra in Bastar is different from other places, instead of rejoicing over the
killing of Ravana, the tribals celebrate Dussehra as a congregation of Devi
Maoli and all her sisters.
The Goncha Festival
• The Goncha Festival is a tribal festival that is marked by a lot of joy and
merry making. It also showcases the inimitable tribal culture.
Gujarat
Food
• Gujarati Food is probably unique on that it is dominantly vegetarian.
Most Gujaratis are rigid vegetarians.

Festivals
• Navratri
 ‘Nav’ means ‘nine’ and ‘ratri’means ‘night’.
Navratri the festival of nine nights is dedicated to goddess Durga and her nine forms.

 Begins from the first day of the bright fortnight of Ashwin which usually coincides with
the end of rainy season. The nine days have great religious significance.
Kites (Uttarayan)
• Kites of all shapes and sizes are flown, and the main competition is to
battle nearby kite-flyers to cut their strings and bring down their kites.
for this, people find their favoured kite-makers who prepare strong
resilient kite bodies with springy bamboo frames and kite-paper
stretched to exactly the right tension. lastly, the kites are attached to a
spool (or firkin) of manja, special kite-string coated with a mixture of
glue and glass to be as sharp as possible for cutting strings of rival kites.
Language
• The official language of the state is gujarati.
• The language, gujarati, comes from sanskrit — an ancient language.
• There are several dialects of gujarati. These include Kachchi,
Kathiawadi, and Surati. Bhili, a language similar to gujarati, is
spoken by tribal groups in northern and eastern gujarat.
• Gujarati is written in a cursive script. Many gujaratis can also
understand and speak hindi.
Clothing
• Gujarati Men wear the dhoti(Cloth consisting of a long piece of white cotton
wrapped around the waist and then drawn between the legs and tucked into
the waist.),accompanied by a shirt and coat closed with string.
