PROJECT MANAGEMENT

 Project is a temporary endeavor under taken to produce a unique product or service

ex: project Tiger, Narmada valley development project etc.
 Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to
project activities in order to meet project requirements
 Each project is unique and differs from routine operations
 It involves the planning and organization of a company resources to move a specific
task ,event.
 It is often associated with fields like engineering, construction, health care,
information technology etc.
 Many different types of project management methodologies and techniques exist,
including traditional, agile etc ex: launching of a new service, Development of a new
product.
Importance of project management

 Managing a project more often t requires a team of people with skills and abilities
that complement each other and help to work towards reaching the goal of the
project. The team, along with its project manager are responsible for planning,
organizing and monitoring project progress
 Reasons:
 Clearly defines the project before it begins
 Establishes an scheduled plan
 Creates a base work for team
 It helps in budgeting and resource allocation
 Helps in tracking project progress in terms of completion, time and costs.
Traditional Project Management

 Also known as the waterfall approach, traditional project management follows each of the five
stages in order. Traditional project managers put a lot of time into initiating and planning to
account for every possible scenario. Any delay or error could throw the rest of the project off.

 A structured timeline is crucial in traditional waterfall project management applications. Each

project step builds upon the last, and team sizes may grow as the project complexity changes.

 Traditional project management is a good choice for situations with a lot of "red tape." A great
example is construction—typically, project managers must obtain permits and clearances before
building. The project itself must also follow a specific order. You can't put a roof on a house
before building the walls!

 While traditional project management has many benefits, its linear structure can mean that any
mistake comes with a large impact on budget and timeline. If an error is made in the first week of
project execution but not discovered until the end, it may be necessary to redo a large portion of
the work.

projects.
 Modern project management leverages automated tools to help plan, execute, and
organize work

projects, such as website builds. Often, a services provider specializes in
delivering unique projects repeatedly, such as a creative website build
