• About Pollicino Recovery Center:

• At the end of 19th century, a large community of Italians from Belluno, immigrated to Jiu Valley for a
better life.In that time, Jiu Valley was part of Austro-Hungarian Empire.As a result from interaction
between italians and the locals, italians observed the economical difficulties from Jiu Valley.In 2002 La
Belluno Comitato Pollicino was founded.  La Belluno Comitato Pollicino is a association that wanted to
help the dystrophic childen from the local hospital.In octomber 2008, after 3 years of hard work, and
640.000 euros, Casa Pollicino was open.All the money came from donations, and the recovery center
was built by volunteers

•All this effort and solidarity from italians continues today because in the recovery center, about 85 children are helped in
the recovery center
• 37 children are handicapped and the rest of them are children that risk to drop out the school
• 8 people are working at Pollicino Recovery Center:
•-2 social workers
•- 1 special pedagogue
•-  1 psychologist
•- 1 kinetotherapist
•- 2 chefs
•-  1 driver
 • Pollicino Recovery Center is full of people who are very experienced
• One of this special crew is Ms. Ramona (Therapist):
,,When I come here, even if I have a bad day, i see them and my day is
instantly better.We always say that the family is formed by parents and other
Pollicino Recovery relatives, but in this case, spending everyday here, I can say that these kids
are part of my family.I belive that these kids are very lucky because this
Center place exists and can spend time here and feel that they are normal, because
Employees and opinions they really are.I want the country to help these kids, because them are part
of the country's future".
    Another example is Ms. Corina(One of the cooks):
,, I cook with joy. We are like a family here. You can't not love these
kids.These kids need a special attention.I asume that these kids feel the same
about us. They always hug us.I learned from these kids to enjoy everything .
They are always happy  and enjoy every little thing.The people from here are
always happy because of them.I feel very lucky because i work here, among
these kids".

beautiful.Every day,the toilets are
clean and disinfect with chlorine and
special solution for cleaning.Every
