What is the problem?

• Steel metal roof can became unstable, rusty, and less function after every rainfall
• Empty soda cans, beer cans, food cans are scattered around the streets
• Mismanagement of aluminum materials waste
• Lack of industry
How and Why does this affect the problem?

• Having an unsteady steel roof can cost house problem and money to fixed the
steel after every rainfalls
• Scattered trash solid objects can create a methane gas emissions; it ranks amongst
the worst of the greenhouse gases than the carbon dioxide
• It can harm the urban areas including near natural habitats
Solution to the Problem

• Flat Rolling Process: This machine allows to flatten the aluminum can into flat
aluminum sheet in assembling aluminum roof panel
• Waste aluminum cans are collected from the trash separately, and then are
transported to the flat rolling process
• Aluminum industry can allow to produce more jobs; and it can earn economic
values

Input and Output Processes

Input I/O Output

• Waste aluminum • Pre-cut and pre-clean the • Aluminum Roof Panel
cans aluminum cans
• Flat Rolling Process
• Organize and attach the panels
into the plywood
Methodology

• Collecting waste aluminum cans from the urban and rural environment (trash bins,
garbage, dumpsite, etc.)
• Cut off the top and the lower of the can, and cut it in half into aluminum sheet
• Place the sheet into the rolling mill
• The aluminum will be rolled into flat sheet metal surface
• Organize and attach the pieces of aluminum panels into the plywood; depending
on the size on top of the house
Results

• The roof was still in operation for a month after rain storms
• It had no leaks
• It received quite a damage after the hail storm

*The results on top are based from Robbto Berfest work.

*He places the aluminum roof panels on the chicken coop as an observation.
Conclusions

• The author’s work was still in a early stage in recycling aluminum cans into roof
panels, and somehow this project can possibly be useful in manufacturing roof
materials from scratch
• Robbto work is made by hand in making the recycling aluminum roof; we had an
idea in designing the rolling mill machine, to speed up the process in
manufacturing
• With this project, it can help modernize the recycling idea and manufacturing the
roof materials from re-using the aluminum cans
• The cost for this aluminum roof (made from aluminum cans) can be seen in a low-
cost price than just purchasing a steel roof price

ALLSTEPS
Recommendations

• Re-designing the rolling mill better and faster in manufacturing the

recycling aluminum roof
• Replacing and installing the manual crank handle with electric motors
to speed up the machine
