• This area constitutes a part of Aravalli Super group comprising of metasediments resting unconformable over Pre-
Aravalli Banded geneisic complex consisting of schists, genises and granites. The phosphate bed in this area could
• be traced over a strike length of about 16 kms varying in surfacial width from 50 meters to few centimetres.
However, the averáge surface width is about 15
• meters. The phosphate bed shows large scale thickening and thinning and often pinching out altogether to
reappear after some distance. The altitude of the
• beds includes the phosphate horizon in some places changes sharply. The dip of the phosphate bed in general is
around 40 degree to 50 degree and at times attains verticality and even overtumed. Generally the phosphate bed
is sandwiched in a carbonate sequence comprising of lower and upper impure dolomitic limestone which shows
conspicuous and considerable lateral and vertical facies variation .
• For convenience of exploration, the entire phosphate body has been divided into a number of blocks designated
as follows:
• A Extension, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, JK&I.
• Blocks D, E, F, B, A & C contain about 94% of the known estimated
• reserves of entire Jhamarkotra rock phosphate deposit.
SITE INFORMATION
• The Company is presently carrying out mining in A, B, C, D, E and F
blocks of the deposit. C, D, E and F are adjoining blocks and form

outcrops over a strike distance of 1050 m is accurate to north and dips northward generally at
45. Westward, towards B block, the zone becomes sub-vertical to overturned. Mining has only
recenthy started here as a westem extension D pit. Mining in this block has started recently as
an
• extension of D block on the westerm end ot central pit. The bottom most
• working level in this block is 500 MRL.
• Presently mining of ore and overburden removal from hanging wall side and
• footwall benching is in progress in this blockk and is being carried out by a
• mining contractor, namely, M/s. Ravi Udyog. The end date for this contract
• work is 15. 10.2001.
•D block
• The bulk reserves and most of current production is within D-block. The block
• is 1500m long. Mineralization is largely HGO with lesser amount of LGO. The
• average width is approximately 20m The zone strikes 115" Az and dips on
• average 45" to the north. Mining started at 600MRL and the lowest level is
• now 450MRL. It forms the central part of the CDEF pit.
• 3.4.1
• 3.4.2 Ore and overburden mining from this block is in progress by the company and
• also overburden/waste excavation and removal is being carried out by the
• mining contractor/s, Ore excavated from this block is being transported to the
• crushing plant/s located on hang wall or footwall side outside the pit limit. The
• overburden is transported to the waste dumps on the footwall side of D&E
• Block/s. The dump is advancing in southward direction.
• Footwall has been exposed in D Block over the entire strike length of about
• 1500 meters at different levels and has already been benched upto 490 MRL.
• The work of making further benches at 470MRL is in progress by an existing
• mining contractor, M/s. G.K. Patel. Excavation on the footwall of D block is
• required for the footwall stability and to comply with the Metalliferous Mines
• Reguilatións, 1961 and ordérs made thereinder, withà view to forim proper size
• of benches in the footwall The unbenched portion of footwall slope varies
• from place to place but the general inclination is of the order of 40-50 degre from horizontal. On the footwall slope (unbenched) some left
over rock
• phosphate ore, which has not been mined earlier, is still lying.
• 3.4.4 On hang wall side of D block work has also been awarded to the existing contractor M/s. G.K. Patel to excavate overburden for pushing of
overburden
• nches. This contract will expire on 2-06-2001.

• years. Similarly, overburden is being excavated at, 510MRL, 500MRL, 490MRL, 480MRL, 470MRL, 460MRL and at 450MRL and will continue to
• extend to lower levels up to 430MRL in next three years.
• E-block
• E block is situated towards east of block D. The phosphorite unit on the E block trends 115° Az from the D block over
a distance of 700 m and thenE-block
curves southerly for 300 m as E Extension from S.I5OE to 6200F ONer tlhe
east-west section, the phosphorite dips 35" N. "The E block is part of the main
pit having an unexcavated portion in centre or bridge that currenitly forms the
haulage way to the waste rock dump. Mining has extended to 470 MRL in this
block.
E-block is about Km long. Ore excavated from this block is transportedto
the old crushing plant and/or to new crushing plant or to ore stacks. The
waste/overburden excavated from this area is being dumped in the waste
dumps on the footwall side of E block. The ore bench is at about 480MRL
The overburden benches are at about 490OMRL, 500MRL and 510MRL. The
mining of ore and overburden will be continued in E block during the tenure of
this proposed contract. The footwall of E block is not properly benched. The
footwall slope is from 530MRL to 490MRL. The slope of the footwall varies
from place to pace, but the general inclination is of the order of 40 degree to 50
degree from horizontal. Occasionally, there is a thin layer of ore sticking on the
footwall slopes.
• The company has now awarded the contract in C, D and E footwall (Area CDE F/Wfrom 3500E
