Project discussion
 An electrical apparatus that by means of
suction collects dust and small particles from
floors and other surfaces.
Principle
 Vacuum cleaners work because of Bernoulli's

Principle, which states that as the speed of air

increases, the pressure decreases. Air will
always flow from a high-pressure area to a
low-pressure area, to try to balance out the
pressure.
Technology and Attachments
  Bottle or bucket
 Motor
 Fan( can be designed by help of thin sheets or used the normal fan of
computer)
 Filter paper
 Plastic pipes ,tapes
 Battery etc

Mechanism
 A vacuum suction is caused by a difference in air pressure. A fan driven

by an electric motor reduces the pressure inside the machine.

Atmospheric pressure then pushes the air through the carpet and into the
nozzle, and so the dust is literally pushed into the bag.
 The vacuum cleaner uses an electric motor that spins a fan, sucking in air

– and any small particles caught up in it – and pushing it out the other
side, into a bag , to create the negative pressure.
Project Plan
Meet 1 , Meet 2 , Meet 3
After the overall discussion with our supervisor Among the
1. Tesla turbine,
2.Hand vaccum cleaner ,
3. solar tracker and
4.water pump.
we concluded to make the portable vacuum cleaner. The things that must be
investigate had been carried out with the information collection of the
things that need to be used in the project. We let over the things for the
futher week to conclude the information of the parts . Which was our 1st
peference .
Meet 4
 The things went right we focused on the parts , which is
preferable for the project as mentioned in above slide .
 We researched about the battery for running out the
motor , fan so on .
 Battery ; Simply battery is a source of electricity which
convert chemical energy to electrical energy in the form
of voltage. Since our project is a small vacuum cleaner
project. So, by doing some study and discussion with
group members we found that 12V rectangular
rechargeable battery which contain six small cells that
can produce 1.5 V from each cell is suitable. We
finalized the price would cost around 1500.
Meet 5
 Further discussion went on we were on our
project and researching about the parts we
finalize the fan .
 Simply the fan can be made by the thin sheet of
tin . That would be axial fan which may work
perfectly for the suction of the dust .Where the
electric motor that spins a fan creates vacuum
within in for the suction of dust.
 The estimated cost would be 500 with some
bolts.
Meet 6
 As the discussion were on the parts we were on
the investigation of the motors .
 We finalized the DC motor(The DC motor is the
motor which converts the direct current into the
mechanical work. It works on the principle of
Lorentz Law, which states that the current
carrying conductor placed in a magnetic and
electric field experience a force.) around 12v
which is sufficient enough to run the fan sheets
for proper suction. Which costs about more or
less 800.
Meet 7
 Remaining parts were the switch , pipe ,filter bag.
These were finalized easily where the availability was
sure enough of these things .
 The switch was as normal on off button having

negative and positive terminals. (estimated price 100)

 The pipe was selected with the plastic reference with

length of 30cm for proper suction.( estimated cost 200)

 The filter bag would be of cloth filter as surgical mask.

(Estimated cost 50)

 The regural big bottle was finalized as per

the need.
Cost Estimated
Parts cost
1.Motor Rs 800
2. Battery Rs 1500
3.Fan Rs 500
4. Switch Rs 100
5.Wires Rs 100
6.Fliter Rs 50
7.Pipe Rs 200
8. Bottle Rs 300
Total Rs 3550
