The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

The Butterfly has many stages in it’s life.


Egg

 The butterfly begins its life as an egg.


 The egg is laid on milkweed leaves.
Caterpillar

 The egg hatches into a caterpillar and it eats milkweed.


 The caterpillars grow very quickly.
Pupa

 When the caterpillar is ready it makes the pupa to begin to convert.


Butterfly forms in the pupa

 24 hours prior to the release


Butterfly breaks free

 When the butterfly is done forming in the pupa stage, the


butterfly begins to break free.
The Adult Butterfly

 When the butterfly breaks free it forms into a beautiful adult


butterfly in a variety of shapes and colors.
