behavior, and values. It includes common
history, race, language, religion,
sentiments and aspirations. It makes the
nation unique.
Culture is transmitted from one
generation to another by the school,
church, state, mass-media, and family.
THE VALUE OF HISTORY IN NOLI
(DR. RIZAL)
It was no snap judgment that I made of
different people that I met. Before I visited
any particular country, I tried to know its
history. i have observe that the freedom
enjoyed or the inhibitions placed on the
people result in their happiness or miseries
in life, and that their forefathers’
sacrifices, and their selfishness have
everything to do with their sorrows.
SCHOOL AND POLITICS
 School- most powerful agent in
cultural transmission.
 Education- broadens the perceptions
on what is right or wrong, truth and
superstition, enable the people to
identify selfless motives from
feigned noble intentions and
empowers them to view sacral
phenomena in a secular light.
 1500’s- school were founded in phil. On the
sons or relatives of Conquistadores in
service of king and of church can attain
education.
 1863- the schools admitted Indios.
 19th century- educational system
characterized by political elitism. Girls are
separated from boys in school and they can
only choose from Colegio(college) or
Beaterio(nunnery). Males are the only who
can avail honorific titles.

RELIGION AND CHURCH

have invented him.
