FASHION INDUSTRY
◦ The fashion industry is one of the major polluting industries in the
world. It produces a huge amount of carbon emission and also
polluting oceans with microplastics. The production and distribution of
the crops, fibers, and garments used in fashion all contribute more to
air pollution including water, and soil pollution.
◦ Many of those fibers are polyester, 2 to 3 times more carbon emission
than cotton. Total greenhouse gas emissions related to textile
production is equal to 1.2 billion tons annually.
◦ The textile industry is the second greatest polluter of local freshwater
in the world. Some of the main factors that contribute to this industrial
caused pollution are the vast overproduction of fashion stuff, the use of
synthetic fibers.
ECO-FRIENDLY INDUSTRY
Nike
◦ soles and basketball courts are a few examples of the
many products Nike creates by transforming plastic
bottles, manufacturing scraps and used product into new
materials emblematic of Nike’s 30-year commitment to
holistic sustainability, which is detailed in the latest
Sustainable Business Report. In fact, 75 percent of all
Nike shoes and apparel now contain some recycled
material.
◦ No one uses more recycled polyester in the industry than Nike.
◦  The outer sole of the shoe uses eco friendly rubber materials,
and other manufacturing waste from Nike Grind. Nike Grind is
a recycling program, in which Nike collects worn out athletic
shoes of any brand, and recycles them into reusable material.
 AVOIDANCES
◦ Avoidances which fashion industry should take :-
◦  They should Avoid using materials which are biodegradable
◦ The people should not burn their clothes after they don’t fit them but they should donate it to the people in need
