EEFECT OF RECYCLED COTTON \ PET BLEND ON ROTOR YARN PROPERTIES

INTRODUCTION:
In recent years, textile production and consumption have skyrocketed as a result of global
population growth and improved living standards. Extreme production in the textile industry
is partly driven by the idea of the fashion industry that consumers need a collection of new
clothes for each season. This is increases the exchange rate of products and the rate of
fabric and waste production. The clothing industry is one of the most vital sectors in the
manufacturing of customer goods. However, the textile industry is one of the most polluting
industries. Not only production but also the use of textiles will also generate waste. Many
measures have been taken to cut its negative impact on the environment. One of them is the
recycle, reuse, and manufacturing process of textiles.
WORKING PRINCIPLE:
In this work R-PET and recycled cotton waste fibres are blended together in the ratio of
50:50. And then blended fibres are subjected for Rotor spinning process. Then the
characteristics of yarn is studied. After that virgin cotton is taken from the spinning waste
and then it is subjected for Rotor spinning process . Also characteristics of this yarn is
studied. And then both of the yarns are compared subsequentially.

ADVANTAGES:
Sustainability: Recycled rotor spun yarn is made from post-consumer or post-industrial
textile waste, reducing the need for new raw materials and minimizing environmental
impact..
Waste Reduction: By repurposing textile waste, recycled rotor spun yarn helps divert
materials from landfills and contributes to a more circular economy.
Cost Savings: Manufacturing recycled yarn can be cost-effective, as it eliminates the
process of raw material extraction and often requires less energy.
Consumer Appeal: As environmental awareness grows, products made from recycled
materials can attract eco-conscious consumers.
Innovation: The development of recycled rotor spun yarn encourages innovation in textile
production and recycling techniques.
APPLICATION:
Recycled rotor spun yarn can be used in various applications such as clothing, home
textiles, and industrial products. It's commonly used to make items like t-shirts, jeans, towels,
and even automotive upholstery. Its sustainable nature makes it appealing for
environmentally-conscious consumers and industries.
COST ESTIMATION :
The approximate cost estimation to complete this project is Rs 5,000.
