Types / Classifications of migration Example Patterns:
1. Inter-State Migration ~ movement of people from
one state to another
2.Intra-State Migration~ in contrast movement of
people within the state
3. Emigration ~leaving one country to move to
another 4. Immigration~ moving to a new country
5. Return Migration~ moving back to where you
came from
6.Seasonal migration~moving with each season or
in response labor or climate conditions Positive Impacts
•Unemployment is reduced and people get better job
opportunities
•Migration of skilled workers leads to a greater
economic growth of the region
•Migrants help to alleviate the poverty in their native
country • It helps improve social life of people
•Children get better opportunities for
higher education.
•Helps to reduce any labour shortages
Negative Impacts
•Poor neighbouring countries bear the heaviest
burden
•Having large population puts too much pressure on
natural resources, amenities and services.
•Migration changes the population of a place,
therefore, the distribution of the population is uneven • Migration increased the slum areas in cities which increase many problems such as unhygienic conditions, crime, pollution etc
•Disagreements between different religions and
cultures In addition, there are more numbers of obstacles that the migrant may need to overcome, including:
•unemployment in new country
