• It has high nutritive value but it is not in regular diet among
urban inhabitants due to its specific odour, colour,
coarseness.
• Further, poor shelf life of the pearl millet flour refrains its
consumption on a large scale.
• Therefore efforts are needed for the development of
processing techniques to harness nutritional potential of
pearl millet based functional foods
• Lack of ready-to-use processed foods based on pearl-millet
• Lack of awareness of nutritional and therapeutic potential of
pearl-millet
