• Major – part of the major scale


• Minor – a semi-tone below the major scale
(normally a natural/flat)
• Augmented – a semi-tone larger than a major
scale (normally a sharp/double sharp)
• Diminished – a tone below a major scale
(normally a flat/double flat)
Vocal Range

Sometimes we use terms like


Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano,
Alto, Tenor, Baritone or Bass
(Passaggio). These can be
helpful but only measure one
aspect of the voice.
