The Piano...
Tempo and
Expressions
Music starting being notated in
approximately the year 1000. Over the next
few hundred years this developed into the
notation we have now (approx. late 16th
Century).

Words also started being added. It became


fashionable to give more detail and tell
musicians exactly how to play your music
and so they used the Italian words.

Composers have used their own languages


since the 18th Century alongside Italian
descriptions.
