CHAPTER 1 : INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND
Gadgets are electronic devices that were specially created during this pandemic with the aim of
helping things become easier and more practical, especially in communicating activities. That
way the use of gadgets in everyday life does not only affect the lives of adults, children can also
be affected by gadgets. During the Covid-19 pandemic the percentage of children aged 1-4
years using gadgets in Indonesia was 25.9% and children aged 5-6 years was 47.7%
(Yudhisthira, 2020). Based on a study conducted by the Ministry of Communication and
Information, it was found that 98% of children knew about the internet and 79.5% of them were
using the internet. From the studies conducted by the research, technological advances and the
use of gadgets can affect children's eye health, sleep problems, concentration difficulties,
decreased learning achievement, physical development, social development, brain
development, and delays in children's language development (Kominnfo, 2017).
RESEARCH QUESTION :
Is there any The Correlation between The Use of Gadgets and The Social
Development of PreSchool Children during the Covid 19 Pandemic in Rt 001 Mutiara
Gading Timur?
Purpose of the research
General Purpose :
After doing this research, it is hoped that the correlation between the use of gadgets
and the social development of preschool children will be identified during the Covid
19 pandemic at RT 001 Mutiara Gading Timur Housing.
Specific Purpose :

CHAPTER 6 : DISCUSSION
Age
Based on the results of the study, it was found that most of the respondents who used gadgets were 6
years old, as many as 16 respondents (40.0%).
Gender
Based on the results of the study, it was found that most of the respondents were female with a total of
19 respondents (63.3%).
Gadget Usage
Based on the results of research from 30 respondents who use gadgets in RT 001 Mutiara Gading Timur
Housing, the majority of 60 minutes are 17 respondents (56.7%).
Social Development
Based on the results of the study, it was found that the data on the frequency distribution of Social
Development respondents in RT001 Mutiara Gading Timur Housing were mostly not age appropriate,
namely 19 respondents (56.7%).
The Correlation between Gadget Use and Social Development of Preschool Children
During the Covid 19 Pandemic At RT 001 Mutiara Gading Timur Housing
Based on the results of bivariate analysis using the chi square statistical test, the p value =
0.037. This means that at alpha 5% there is a correlation between the use of gadgets and the
social development of preschool children during the covid 19 pandemic in RT 001 Mutiara
Gading Timur Housing. In addition, the results of the statistical test obtained OR = 7.467,
meaning that respondents with abnormal social development have a chance of 7.467 times.
So it can be concluded that the more children use gadgets, the not age appropriate social
development.
CHAPTER 7 : CLOSING
Conclusion
Based on the results of research conducted on 30 respondents in RT 001 Mutiara Gading
Timur Housing regarding the Relationship between Gadget Use and Social Development
During the Covid 19 Pandemic, it can be concluded:
1. Description of the characteristics of respondents, most of them are female
2. The majority of respondents generally use gadgets for 60 minutes.
3. Most social developments are not age appropriate.
4. There is a relationship between the use of gadgets and social development in preschool
age children during the Covid 19 pandemic at RT 001 Mutiara Gading Timur Housing.
