Having another skyscraper is just wastage of people’s money (will be focused on Menara Warisan Merdeka and its comparison with KLCC). DEFINITION OF SKYSCRAPER • a tall and continuously habitable building • structures that are above 100 metres (328 feet) CATEGORIES OF SKYSCRAPER • there are 49 categories of skyscrapers. • but two main categories are : building tower FACTS ABOUT SYSCRAPERS IN MALAYSIA • There are 54 skyscraper buildings in Malaysia. • Two skyscraper buildings in Malaysia are listed in top 200 tallest building in the world : i. Petronas Twin Towers (known as KLCC), Kuala Lumpur (452 metres (1,483 feet), ranked fifth and sixth in the world). ii. Menara Telekom (Telekom Headquarters), Kuala Lumpur (310 metres (1,017 feet), ranked 48th in the world). • List of skyscraper towers in Malaysia : i. Menara Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur (421 metres (1,381 feet), ranked seventh in top 77 tallest tower in the world) ii. Menara Alor Setar, Alor Setar (165.5 metres) iii. WHY WE DO NOT NEED MWM? • Amount of RM 5 billion can : i. 50 new equipped schools ii. 250 km highways iii. improve security in urban areas iv. improve education and healthcare facilities v. reduce poverty levels vi. improve public transportation vii. provide greater assistance to the Orang Asli, the disabled and old folk. • There are many unoccupied offices in Kuala Lumpur and other major urban areas (especially in KLCC). • We already have 54 skyscraper buildings (not included skyscraper towers) CONCLUSION
• In my opinion, Malaysia does not
need another skyscraper building. • Having another skyscraper building is just wastage of people’s money. • So, just think ourselves.
