CASE # 4: Multiplying Binomials
Involving Radicals
To multiply binomials involving radicals, use the
property for the product of two binomials, then
simplify by removing perfect nth powers
from the radicand or by combining
similar radicals.

LESSON PROPER
DIVISION OF RADICALS
In dividing radical by another radical, it can be
expressed into fractional form. Apply the Quotient Law of
Radicals when the denominator is a single term form.
Rationalize the radicals in the denominator if it is in a
binomial form by using the conjugates of the
denominator of the given radical expression.

a. To divide radicals of the same order,

use the property then rationalize the
denominator.

Examples:
1. Find the quotient. .
2. Find the quotient.
b. To divide radicals of different order
It is necessary to express them as
radicals of the same order then
rationalize the denominator.

Examples:
1. Find the quotient.
2. Find the quotient.
c. To divide radicals with a denominator
consisting of atleast two terms,
rationalize the denominator using its
conjugate

Examples:
1. Find the quotient.
2. Find the quotient.

Conjugates are pairs of expressions like
and or expressions and . To rationalize
the denominator of a fraction that has one
or more terms involving square root
radicals, multiply the fraction by the
conjugates of the denominator.
