This document identifies five usability issues with Microsoft PowerPoint in terms of affordance, visibility, mappings, system image, gulf of execution, and gulf of evaluation. Specifically, it finds issues with the collapse ribbon button being difficult to distinguish from the scroll button for new users, the customize quick access toolbar button being difficult to find, unexpected behavior when clicking outside a slide, lack of clear concepts about certain features, inability to get an overview of SmartArt or charts before accessing them, and graphs not always displaying the expected result on first attempt.

Find five design issues with Microsoft Power Point in terms of
• Affordance, that is – • Visibility • Mappings • System image • Gulf of execution • Gulf of evaluation AFFORDANCE
Affordancesprovide strong clues to the
operation of a thing. Users should be able to perceive affordances without having to consider how to use the items. AFFORDANCE
HERE IN MS POWERPOINT,THIS BUTTON
NAME IS COLLAPS THE RIBBON.WHEN A USER USE THIS FOR FIRST TIME ,SOMETIMES HE CAN NOT GET WHICH ONE IS SCROLL UP AND WHICH ONE IS COLLAPS THE RIBBON.THIS TWO BUTTON LOOKS LIKE MOSTLY SAME.SOMETIMES USER MAKE MISTAKE WHEN THEY USE FOR THE FIRST TIME VISIBILITY
An object's function should be visible so that user
can see what it works & how it is currently doing and see what controls are available .Visibility is the property that defines how visible an element is and how apparent its function is VISIBILITY
Here in MS Powerpoint , this button
is customize quick access toolbar . But when a user search for this function ,they can not find this easily. Its so difficult for a new user. MAPPINGS
Relationship between controls
and their affects
Sometimes when a user click
outside mistakely of the slide,it shows like this.then he can not find why its not able to edit our slide. Its a big problem for new users SYSTEM IMAGE
The system image is the visible part of a
device (including the physical structure, instructions, etc). The designer only talks to the user through the system image. If the system image doesn't make the design model clear, then the user will create a different model through their interaction SYSTEM IMAGE
INMS POWERPOINT ,THIS
FEATURES DOESN’T GIVE A CLEAR CONCEPT ABOUT THESE FEATURES, SO THAT THEY HAVE SOME CONFUSION ABOUT THESE KIND OF FEATURES. GULF OF EXECUTION
Gulf of Execution do the affordances provided by
the system match the actions intended by the person. It defines how well does the system allow someone to do their intended actions directly. GULF OF EXECUTION
INMS POWERPOINT , WHEN WE
NEED TO ADD SMARTART OR CHART ,WE CAN NOT GET ANY OVERVIEW .WHEN WE GO INSIDE THEN WE SEE THE FEATURES GULF OF EVALUATION
Gulf of evaluation defines how much effort user
must exert to interpret the state of the system and determine how well the expectations and intentions have been met GULF OF EVALUATION
InMS POWERPOINT, Here, by
submitting desired values for proper graph ,most of the time the graph does not display proper expected result to the user at the first attempt THANK YOU
