COMMUNITY ACTION

COMMUNITY ACTION- Refers to collective efforts


done by people directed toward addressing social
problems.(e.g., social inequalities, environmental
degradation, and poverty) in order to achieve social
well-being. community action can take the form of
community engagement and solidarity, which bolster
citizenship in the process. The change brought about
the community action can be understood by learning the
concept, factor, and theories of social change. Thus the
following are emphasized and discussed substantively
in this module.
(1) community engagement, (2) solidarity, (3)
citizenship, and (4) social change.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Refers to the process of developing partnerships and
sustaining relationships. Community engagement is
necessary so that students could learn social
responsibility and develop their penchant for civic
engagement. Community engagement in a school
setting can
take the form of service learning, community
engaged research(CenR).

SERVICE LEARNING
Is a teaching methodology that employs
community service and reflection on service
to teach community engagement, develop
greater community and social responsibility,
and strengthen communities.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Refers to the voluntary services done by students, faculty,
school employees, or alumni in response to the social,
economic, and political needs of communities.

COMMUNITY ENGAGED RESEARCH(CEnR)


Is a collaborative process between the faculty and or student
researchers and the partner
community in conducting research. The aforementioned forms
ofcommunity engagement in school settings serve as guides in
understanding different avenues through which school
stakeholders could engage with communities toward social
transformation.
