emotion, and sensations that constitute the individuality and identity
of a person.

Elements of Self
Defining the  Body- constitutes your physical attributes, your health,
and your posture and poise.
Concept of  Thoughts- the way you think, and how you perceived
the Self things around you affect how you feel about them and
bring about sensations.
 These Emotions and Sensations that you experience
prompt you to act and behave the way you do.

* The union of these elements make up your character or


personality and essentially distinguishes you from others .
Personality
The word Personality itself stems from the Latin word Persona, means a theatrical mask
worn by performers in order to either project different roles or disguises their identities.

It refers to the unique and relatively enduring set of behaviors, feelings, thoughts,
and motives that characterize an individual.

2 Key components of Personality:


 Uniqueness of an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior;
 Relatively enduring or being consistent, over different situations and over time.
If you were asked to describe yourself, you may probably talk about your physical characteristics,
your interest, your hobbies, your skills or abilities, or even your beliefs. Physical attributes such as
height and skin complexion, as well as psychological characteristics such as temperament may be
inherited from your parents; some attributes and traits, however, may be brought about by
environmental factors. Some of your traits may be similar to your other siblings or to some of your
peers, but no two individuals are exactly alike.
Identifying your Strengths and Weaknesses

In knowing your Strength:


 You are more empowered to do developmental task.
 You are equipped with skills essential in making wise decision in life.
 You are able to analyze complex situations logically and sensible.
 Youcan be more confident in doing your task and become more
competent in achieving your goals.
In Knowing your Weaknesses:
 Gives you the opportunity to know your limitations or
boundaries.
Becoming more aware of your weaknesses is not the end
goal of self-development; rather, it is Starting Point. You must
find ways to enhance your capabilities. You must develop your
knowledge and skills through better study habits, and develop
positive attitudes in dealing with life’s challenges.
Remember that in Understanding Yourself:

 You become more capable of actualizing your potentials to the


fullest.
 You do not only come to appreciate and value who you are; also
helps you to respect others and relate with them more
meaningfully.
 You are more, you are empowered to cope well with the demands
in school, at home, and of your relationships with others.
Introspection- your ability to reflect and think about your own
thoughts feelings, and actions. It is essential in understanding and
improving yourself.

Aside from your self-assessment or introspection, you have to listen


and accept positively the feedback you get from others, as well as
their opinions about you. It is important because it allows to
validate your perceptions of who you are.
2 Types of Feedback:
1. Positive Feedback – when you listen to positive feedback you feel energized,
and you become more enthusiastic because you are affirmed. Your worth of
as a person is recognized a and this way you feel more confident.
2. Negative Feedback or Criticism – when you hear this type of feedback you
tend to get angry and may even deny what others have observed about you.

Thus, you have to be smart to determine the accuracy of the feedback that you
received from others.
The Importance of Valuing Oneself

We come to value ourselves more as we understand ourselves better. Self-


awareness starts with assessing yourself. By becoming aware of yourself you
are able to:

 Accept yourself and be more open for self-improvement.


 See your potentials, thus utilizing them to the fullest.
 Create your own individuality and promotes wise decision-making
when facing critical issues in life.
 Increase your self confidence and sense of security.

GOAL: To create a Video Presentation
ROLE: Videographer and Video Editor
AUDIENCE: Subject Teacher and Classmates
SITUATION: You are to make a Video Presentation about yourself. Answer these following questions:
1. What is your name, age, grade, hobbies, the things you are good at, your likes and dislikes?
2. What do you consider as your weaknesses, abilities, and talents? What are the remedies you will take to
improve or compensate for your weakness?
3. Ask one of your family members to give feedbacks about your positive and negative attributes. What is your
reaction or opinion about their feedbacks?
4. How does knowing your Self or being Self-aware help boost your self-confidence?
5. What have you discovered in yourself and why it is important that you should know your Self better?
