სიტყვა ‘ფილოლოგია’ ბერძნული


წარმოშობისაა და ნიშნავს სიტყვის სიყვარულს.
The word ‘Philology’ is of Greek origin and means ‘love
of a word ( logos).

სიტყვის, ანუ ლიტერატურისა და ზოგადად,


განათლებისა და არგუმენტირებული
მსჯელობის სიყვარულს.
a love of learning, of literature as well as of argument
and reasoning

Text Linguistics studies the text from the point of


view of both synchronic and diachronic aspects

Synchronic studies concentrate on the study of a


language phenomenon or a text at a definite time of
its development

a linguistic fact in order to see how they change over
a period of time, we will be conducting a diachronic

Text linguistics

Text Linguistics is also interested in the


phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic or
stylistic dimensions of the text
Cognitive Linguistics

Cognitive Linguistics focuses on the relationship of


the language and thought

For this, cognitive linguistics studies meaning

Language is a system given in the text ???????


What does that mean? Do we speak Language or a
text????? Do we study a language or a text?

Text can be given t o us through a number of modes

When we study the language we study texts ( or we


study the language through texts)

Animals and language

animals cannot use articulate language and thus they


cannot possess a language in its proper sense.
Language

The language can be realised in a number of ways:


oral, graphic, gestures, signs. All of these are
different modes of realisation of one natural
language.

Why can not we rename things easily?

The language contains a large number of signs and


their constant change or replacement would cause
chaos in the language;
2. The nation or the community which speaks and
thus creates the language is generally known to be
conservative and thus, they would not welcome such
constant changes of the semantic or other systems of
the language which, by all means, would lead to
other chaotic changes of the community.
