What is a process paragraph?
• Process paragraphs describe how to do
something or how something works.
• In a process paragraph, a process is
divided into separate steps and each step
is explained in the chronological order –
the order of events as they happen over
time.
What are its features?
• Explain a sequence or process
• Use time words or phrases
• Present facts and details in the time order
• End with a specific result
Example paragraphs
• Read the example paragraphs 52, 53 and 54.
• Answer the questions below the texts.
• Pay attention to three following aspects
• Organization (How is the text organized? How are the ideas connected?)
• Content (Is the content appropriate? Is there any unrelated sentence?)
• Language use (What is the typical language for a process paragraph?)
