A pink binder with a floral cover should be sitting on the bottom, left
corner of my desk. The plastic pages denote different sections. Inside, you will find
class lists and seating charts. If it is a planned absence, I will have the binder already
opened to the correct section for you.
Lesson Plans - Friday
3rd - 5th

Materials Needed:
• Box of Rhythm Center Games. found by my SUB TUB. (Rhythm Race,
Don’t Spill the Rhythms, and Don’t Break the Rhythms)
• Each set is already prepared and tucked in a zip lock bag. The rules for each
game are printed and included in the bag. Students have played these games
before and most are familiar with the format.
• If they win the game, they may get a kazoo. (EDIT TO FIX YOUR OWN
PRIZE)

Procedure:
• Have students get into groups of 4-5 students. NOTE: I actually have groups
pre-picked and put a copy of my groupings in my sub binder. However, not
everyone does this.
• Pass out a game bag to each group and let them play about 15 -20 minutes.
• Have students rotate to a new game and play that game about 15 - 20 minutes.
• End the class with Music Class Idol.

Music Class Idol

• Pick a kid to come up and perform for the class.
• After he’s done, give him a sticker (found in the student desk in the front of
my room).
• Pick next kid.
Contingency Plans
In the case of an emergency absence or if something goes wrong with the
planned lesson, contingency plans can be found in the back of this binder
they are sorted by grade levels.

4th-5th Grade: Purple plastic folder

2nd- 3rd Grade: Green plastic folder
K- 1st Grade: Pink plastic folder

These folders will have copies of all materials that you need to teach the
lesson, but they may not have enough for all students. IF NOT ENOUGH
COPIES ARE PRESENT, I WILL LEAVE A POST-IT WITH THE
NUMBERS OF COPIES YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE. If you need to
make copies, use the following code: 1285.

If all else fails, I do have some DVD’s you can play for the kids. They are in
the gray filing cabinet across from my desk. The drawer is labeled
“Videos and Tech” The “Kidsongs” and “Little Amadeus” videos are great
for K-1, but I would not recommend them for the older students.
How to Use the Sound System
• The sound system is typically already attached to my chromebook using a
cable labeled LTI BLOX. If it is not, you will need to insert the 1/8” plug
into the headphone jack of the chromebook.
• To turn the sound system on, you will need to press the main power switch
on the black sound system cart. It is labeled using a green sticky note and
can also be seen in the picture below.
• Volume can be controlled two ways. The easiest method is probably to use
the dial attached to the LTI BLOX cable. It is already labeled with
“louder” and “softer” for your convenience. You may also adjust the
volume using the sound icon in the bottom, right corner of the laptop
screen.

How to Use SMART Board
Where are the materials?
SMART & HDMI Cables : If not currently plugged in to the Chromebook, they have
probably fallen off the sound mixer (big black box). They can be traced from the white
tracking to the right side of my desk
Remote: Either the blue pocket attached to the white board or on the marker tray
below.

Turn it On
Get the white remote which says “Epson Projector.” Press the blue
button to turn the power on. It takes some time to boot up. The chromebook screen
will not immediately appear after turning on the Smartboard. You will have to
unplug the HDMI dongle (black cord with a small black rectangle that says
“Lenovo,,” then plug it back in. I occasionally have to do this a couple times
before it works correctly.

Volume
The volume is controlled through the sound system, not the SMART board remote. To
adjust, please reference the page titled “How to Use the Sound System.
