• Word 2016 is a word processing application/program
that allows you to create a variety of documents like
letters, flyers, and reports

• Word 2016 allows you to do more with your word


processing project

• When Word is opened the Word Start Screen will appear


• The start screen allows you to create a new document by
choosing from the list of pre-made templates

HOME TAB
 The Home tab gives you access to some of the most commonly used commands for
working with Word, including copying and pasting, formatting, aligning paragraphs, and
choosing document styles.

 The Home tab is selected by default whenever you open Word.

THE RULER

Ruler

The Ruler is located at the top and to the left of you document. It makes it
easier to adjust you document with precision. If you want, you can hide the
Ruler to create more screen space.
DOCUMENT VIEWS
Word 2016 has a variety of viewing options that change how your document is displayed.
You can choose to view your document in Read Mode, Print Layout, or Web Layout. These
views can be useful for various tasks.

To change document views, locate and select the desired document view tool in the
bottom-right corner of the Word window

Activity 1: The New Deped Template.
1. Open a blank document
2. Change the size of document to legal (8.5 x 14 in)
3. The margin should be normal and the orientation is portrait
4. Type Republic of the Philippines.
change font style to old English. Font size is 11.Hit ENTER
5. Type Department of Education.font style is Old English.Font size is 16. Hit ENTER
6. Type Region V – Bicol.Font Style is Trajan Pro.Font size is 9. Hit ENTER
7. Type Schools Division Office of Camarines Norte.Font Style is Tahoma.Font size is 8. Hit
ENTER
8. Type the name of your school.Font style is Trajan Pro.Font size is 8.
9. Type the name of your school.Font style is Trajan Pro.Font Size is 8.Underline it.
10. Select all text.Center the alignment of your text.
11. Go to home tab choose select paragraph tool and select Remove Space after Paragraph. Hit
ENTER
13. Insert the deped seal at the top most part of the document.Center the alignment of image.
14. Save as ICT Activity 1.
Activity 2: TABLES
1. open new document.
2. copy and paste the heading from activity one.
3. insert table.4 columns and 2 rows (4x2)
4. Type AWA in the first column; type Date in the second column; type Time in the
third column and accomplishment in the fourth column. Bold it. Make all the text in
uppercase.
5. highlight all the text and under the HOME Tab, select center icon in the paragraph
tool bar
6. add another two rows by pointing the cursor at the left corner of the table and
click the + sign twice.
7. Insert another column between date and time by pointing the cursor to the line
before the text “TIME” and click the + sign once.
Activity 2: TABLES
8. move the insertion point (blinking vertical line) to the third column.make a double
click and hold while dragging the cursor to the end of the column to highlight the
columns and rows.Then HIT Backspace to delete.
9. Highlight all the tables in AWA column.select layout TAB and click merge cells.Do
this to all column.
10. Go to Insert Tab.Select Table and choose Draw table.When a small pencil appears
you are now ready to draw a table.
11. To draw a table begin the drawing from the line of the table you want to add a
table or a line. It can be horizontal or vertical.Draw at least two table or lines.
12. Save your document as ICT Activity 2.
