 Geographical distribution :It is distributed in the area of Canary Islands and

Mediterranean region through Africa, the Middle East, India and Sri Lanka to
China. It also found in Australia. In Africa it occurs wild or naturalized
throughout the drier parts of continent including South Africa and in several
 MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES
 It is thick, hairy, upright, greyish herb or under shrub grows up to 1.5m.
 All parts are covered with withish, stellate trichomes .
Leaves are simple ,alternate,sub opposite, ovate entire basis cunate and are
10cm in length; branching is extensive.
Roots are plump, long tuberous fleshy, whitish-brown in color.
Flowers are found in clusters in axils are are of greenish –yellow color.

THERAPEUTIC USES
The plant has anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory ,anti- bacterial, fungicidal
,anthelmintic, anticonvusalant, antistress ,immunomodulatory and anti
pyretic properties.
Mainly used in Ayurvedic and Unani preparations.
The leaves have anthelmintic and febrifuge properties.
An infusion of the bark is given for asthma .
Roots are used for curing skin disease ,bronchitis, ulcer, and dyspepsia and
eye disease.
