Question: How do we know that God exist?
The scriptures nowhere attempt to prove the
existence of God by formal proofs. It is assumed
as an evident fact and as a belief natural to man.
The scriptures nowhere set forth a series of
proof of his existence as a preliminary to faith.
They declare the fact and called upon men to
make a venture of faith.

• Some persons are troubled by the question:
-Where did God come from ?
-Who create God?
The answer is found in the definition of God. God is
the uncreated being; eternal without beginning or end.
• Psalms 90 vs 1-2: “Lord thou has been our dwelling
place in all generation. Before the mountains were
brought forth or even thou hadst formed the earth
and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting

• The answer can be given in two(2) parts:
1. All people have an inner sense of God
2. Believing the evidence in Scripture and Nature.

1st All persons have an inner sense of God

-All persons everywhere have a deep inner sense that
God exist. That they are his creatures, and that he is
their creator (Note: Romans 1 vs 21 & 25).
-Implying that they actively or willfully rejected some
truth about God existence & character that they know

• Romans 1 vs 19: Paul says that what can be
known about God is plain to them and add that
this is because God has shown it to them.
• Yet the scripture recognize that some people
deny this inner sense of God and even deny
that God exist.
• Note: Psalms 14 vs 1 & Psalms 53 vs 1.
It is the fool who says in his heart there is no God.
• Psalms 10 vs 3-4: It is the wicked person who
first curse & renounces the lord & then in pride
repeatedly thinks there is no God.

Cont’d
• The apostle Paul, also recognize that sin will
cause people to deny their knowledge of God.
• He speaks of those who by their wickedness
suppress the truth. (Note: Romans 1 vs 18)
and say those who do this are without excuse
for their denial of God (Note: Romans 1 vs 20)
• Note a series of active verbs indicate that
there is a willful suppression of truth.
• Romans 1 vs 23, vs 25, vs 28-32.
