Surrendered Bill
of Lading
 - Surrendered is used in case of receiving goods without presenting the
original B/L at the port of destination.
- Normally, the goods will be delivered when the consignee presents an
original B/L and pays the related costs to the shipping line at

- Due to a number of reasons such as short transit time, the preparation
of documents is not timely or due to the final agreement between the
buyer and the seller about the convenient receipt of goods at the port of
destination without presenting the B/L of the original, the shipper can
request the shipping lines to deliver the goods at the port of destination

B/L at any shipping line's office other than the port of destination

- The agent of the shipping line where the original B/L is received will
send a written confirmation of this along with the shipment details to the

 USAGE IN REALITY
It is recommended to use Surrendered B/L in 2 cases:
The relationship between Shipper and Consignee is a parent company and subsidiary in two different countries because
shipper will save the cost of sending original documents as well as in the case of signing the original bill of bill of bill of
