Motif
Based on story, Lipa Songke consist of 3 (three) part: Bangkar,
Rempa Teke and Libong. The other motives are additions as
time goes by.
Rempa Teke
Rempa Teke symbolizes the dredging between family
members like the lizard leg membrane which is
difficult to separate from where he is walking, the
family is also expected not to be easly broken apart.
Wela Runus
Wela Runus is a flower that
symbolizes the attitude of ethos,
that the Manggarai people are
small but beautiful and life-giving
and live in the midst.
Libong
Libong is a symbol of the origin of
human life. Libong as well as a wellspring
which is believed to be the place where
human life began.
Wela Kaweng
This motif means interdependence
between humans and the natural
surroundings. Wela kaweng both the
leaves and flowers to be used as
treatment material for wound from
domestic animal/livestock.

Step by step Weaving Process.

Yarn selections

Chossing yarn is one of the important processes in weaving. Choosig a quality

yarn will greatly affect the flexibility and weight of the Sarung/Lipa.

Weaving Coloring (Pewarnaan)

The next process is waeving. The pattern of the motif will deoend on The coloring technique can be divided into two namely natural dyes

Maneng Spinning (Pemintalan/Woer)

for yellow, pandan leaves, gamal leaves, and lole leaves for green

passed namely Maneng and Tenung it self.

Wenggi, Pesa, Lihu, Keropong,
Klirik, Nggolong ine, nggolong
anak, Krempak, Mbira, Jangka,
Pesa, Lihu, Papan duduk.
