Culture of the Polish people:

history and modernity

Culture
Polish culture has been formed for many centuries. Its formation was influenced
by countries that occupied the territory of Poland at different times, so its culture
is very diverse. Many gifted personalities in different years and centuries have
glorified Poland for the whole world with their talents.

Culture
Polish culture is glorified not only by its outstanding figures, but
also by folk costumes, dances and cuisine.
Common roots
The peoples of the countries are interesting for their traditions, dances, costumes.
Of all the peoples, the Polish people attracted my attention the most. The costumes
of the Poles are somewhat similar to ours, because the Poles, like us, are of Slavic
origin.

Traditional costumes
Clothing and fashion in Poland were influenced by the climate, as well as other cultures
that Poles came into contact with. Because of these diverse influences, each region of
Poland has its own local traditional dress. Traditional Polish folk costumes vary from
region to region, but are typically brightly colored and decorated with embroidery.

Costumes
Traditional costumes are still sometimes worn for weddings and other important family
events and for informal meetings. People in the village most often wear folk costumes.
They wear them only on special occasions - on Sunday to church, on church
processions, on village holidays and weddings.

History of folk costumes
Folk costumes have been the most fashionable since the second half of the XIX century,
when cheap and widely produced fabrics became more accessible to the common
population. The peasants who gained independence wanted to show their pride by
wearing traditional costumes.
History
Some costumes became more popular than others because of the wave of patriotic feelings
in the XIX century. The costumes of Krakow became a symbol of the struggle for national
freedom, as peasants from the Krakow region took part in the Kosciuszko uprising. In fact,
the folk costume from the Krakow region has become the national costume of Poland.
Folk dances
Poles often dance folk dances in folk costumes: krakowiak, mazurka and
polkas.
Polish culture
Despite the influence of different cultures, Poland has preserved its
culture and traditions, which glorified and continue to glorify Poland.
