Women in Science

By. YULX
Vera Rubin
She was the first to discover
evidence of the existence of dark
matter in the universe.
Jane
Goodall
Specialized in Primatology, branch of
mastozoology that is responsible for the
study of primates. She has dedicated her
life to the study of chimpanzees: behavior,
use of tools, ways of life, etc. She is the
first person to be accepted into a primate
society.
Rosalind
Franklin
Her photographs contributed to
the discovery of the structural
model of DNA.
Marie
Curie
Winner of a Nobel Prize in Physics and
a Prize in Chemistry, her discoveries
around radioactivity forever changed
the history of physics and chemistry.
To it are due the discovery of two
elements: polonium and radium.
The only woman with two Nobel
Prizes in this photograph.
Katherine
Johnson
She worked as a professor for years and in 1953 began
working in the calculus department of NACA (predecessor of
NASA), where she performed all the operations needed by
aeronautical engineers. Her curiosity and numerical control led
her to perform all the calculations of the Mercury project, this
being responsible for the parabolic trajectory of the first
manned flight into space. He also calculated the trajectory of
Apollo 11 that would take man to the moon and was key in the
return of Apollo 13.
Ada
Lovelace
Lovelace was the first person to develop a computer
code and one ahead of her time. He discovered that,
through a series of symbols and mathematical
norms, large series of numbers could be calculated,
thus advancing the capabilities that machines would
later have.
Hedy
Lamarr
She was the inventor of the first version of the
spread spectrum technique, a technology that
enables long-distance wireless communications.
Today that type of technology is the basis of tools
such as WiFi or Bluetooth. She is also known for
her films.
