Background
● Because of in Damai Junior Highschool we get an English
subject that is taught by a native speaker, we are interested to
do a research about how effective it is to learn with native
speaker, how to learn English with native speakers in the most
effective way, and especially to learn how to read a text by
copying to the native speaker. Therefore, we are interested to
create this paper entitled “Improving Damai Junior Highschool
2020 – 2021 Student’s Reading Skills By Copying To Native
Speakers”.

language that is not the main language but is one of the languages commonly
used in a country.
● Improving is an effort to be better than the previous one in terms of degrees,
levels, quality, quantity, skills and abilities.
● According to the Cambridge Dictionary, read as a noun is the skill or activity of
getting information from books, or an occasion when something written,
especially a work of literature, is spoken to an audience.
● According to the Cambridge Dictionary, imitate as a verb is to behave in a
similar way to someone or something else, or to copy the speech or behavior,
etc. of someone or something.
● According to the Oxford Dictionary, pronunciation is the way in which a
language or a particular word or sound is pronounced.
● According to the Oxford Dictionary, native speaker is a person who speaks a
language as their first language and has not learned it as a foreign language.
● English is one of the most important languages of the world and Spoken by
more than 380 million people in the United Kingdom, the United States , and
the former British Empire.

Listening Test Result

On their first trial, 5 out of the 10 participants misspelled the word ‘increasingly’.
After they listened to the native speaker, 2 out of the 5 participants who
misspelled the word ‘increasingly’ has succeeded pronounce it correctly.

For students :

● Use English as a main language at school or at least in English class
