 Members should be chosen based on
demonstrated:
 Leadership  Courtesy
 Maturity  Respect for classmates
 Reliability  Attitude of service to others
 Punctuality
 Sound judgment
 Interest in traffic safety
 Obedience to rules
 Good attendance record
 Members should possess the following
minimum qualifications:
 Average intelligence
 Good physical condition
 Ability to control warning devices effectively
 Ability to communicate
 Ability to recognize potentially dangerous situations
 Mental alertness
 Neat appearance
 Good Character
 Dependability
 Sense of responsibility for the safety of students
 When the traffic situation and the school
crossing is too hazardous
 When the crosswalk is so far form the school it
cannot be monitored
 When it is difficult for children to observe
traffic on all corners
 For crossings where there are too many
students to control
 When there is not at least one safe gap per min.
 SCHOOL flags may
be used at traffic
lights.
 STOP paddles shall
not be used at traffic
lights.
