Colin Winterbottom

Close up abstractions
Close up abstractions
The Analysis
• The photographer the I am researching today is Colin Winterbottom.
• The name of the series that I'm interested in is called ‘close up abstractions’
• The series was his first ever work in colour.
• Winterbottom combines a heightened sensitivity to place with compelling compositions and
unique perspectives to infuse the urban landscape with drama and mood. His photos seek
to express not just what a place looks like, but how it feels to be there.
• The main focus of the pictures are the main pattern.
• I like the image because it shows how wherever you look there's patterns.
• In the image there is natural lighting because most of the photos are outdoors.
• In the image there's a lot of colour and many shapes.
• Colin Winterbottom used a macro photography lense to enlarge the smallest details in the
decay to the point of abstraction.
