UMAID BHAWAN PALACE:
• One of the largest royal private residences in the world, Umaid Bhawan Palace is
the only palace to have a working elevator in India.

• IT is one of the most popular attractions of Jodhpur sightseeing where one can
experience the heritage hotel stay in it.

• The grand palace includes 347 rooms which were individually occupied by the
royal families of Jodhpur in the medieval era. Today, the hotel is well-recognized for
the best luxury hotels in India by numerous entities.

• The castle is the finest example of Beaux Arts Style in a mixture of western and
eastern architectural styles.

Umaid Bhawan Palace history :

  • The foundation of Umaid Bhawan Palace was laid by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1929
and later it was opened for official residence.

• IT was believed that the palace was mainly constructed to employ thousands of people
during a grand famine.

• The reign was cursed by a saint that famine will fall in the entire reign. With the
passage of time, this curse got true and the palace was in a position of serious drought for
more than three years.

• The 37th king of Rathore dynasty, Umaid Singh decided to construct a lavish palace
for providing employment.
Umaid Bhawan Palace history :

• This opportunity was opted by the farmers having a steady income when
their fields become useless.

• Once the palace got started, the authorities found that the place of the
palace was barren with utmost water scarcity.

• The king commanded to construct a railway line for transporting the


construction material easily.

• Burmese teak wood and Makrana marbles were used for interior work of
the palace.
• After completion of the palace, the complex was not open for functioning due to
incessant death and misfortunes in the royal family.

• In 1943, the palace was opened by Umaid Singh and then he lived only for four
years.

• Later his great-grandson decided to dedicate a part of this grand private residence
for the hotel.

Main attractions of Umaid Bhawan Palace


Royal Palace
The palace covers 26 acres of land includingvarious interesting chambers like a
throne room, private dining hall, public meeting hall, library, ballroom, spa, indoor
swimming pool, tennis court, and many others.

The dome-like interior is one of the main attractions in the palace.


Luxury Hotel
The hotel in the palace has 64 guest rooms including the royal suite of the king.
Special marble bathtubs are additionally featured with other facilities in king and
queen suites The bouquet hall of the palace can hold 300 people, now turned into a
restaurant.

Museum
The grand palace also includes Museum in its architectural feature. This
museum holds royal artifacts and some collection of personal essentials of a king like
a dock collection, ancient photographs, classic cars, vintage cars, mural paintings,
miniature paintings, and others.

Entrance fees of Umaid Bhawan Palace


Entry fee for Indian-INR 25 per person; INR 30 for a museum visit for adults and INR 10 for
children.
Entry fee for foreigsner- INR 50 per person: INR 100 per person for museum
